Mrs. Kayla Marie Newkirk, MEd, LP

Kayla Newkirk, MEd, LP, is a Clinical Mental Health Counselor with a Limited Permit specializing in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). She is dedicated to supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds in overcoming mental health challenges by providing evidence-based, goal-oriented treatment tailored to each client’s unique needs. Through her work, Kayla empowers clients to develop healthy coping strategies, challenge negative thought patterns, and enhance their overall well-being, fostering a safe and inclusive therapeutic environment.

Throughout her career, Kayla has gained extensive experience working with clients of all ages and cultural backgrounds, adapting her therapeutic approach to meet a wide range of needs. In addition to her counseling practice at True Talk Mental Health Counseling, she has served as a case manager, crisis line worker, and master’s level intern in clinical mental health counseling, demonstrating a commitment to community-focused mental health care. Her dedication to professional growth is further reflected in her ongoing doctoral studies in Counselor Education and School Counseling at Waynesburg University, where she continues to deepen her expertise in educational leadership and research.

Kayla is also an accomplished researcher and educator. She contributed to the award-winning 2025 journal article, “The Power of Choice: Comparing Asynchronous and Synchronous Learning,” published in the Journal of Counselor Preparation and Supervision, and will begin her role as an adjunct professor at St. Bonaventure University in 2026. Her professional journey is marked by a blend of clinical practice, academic scholarship, and mentorship, reflecting her unwavering commitment to empowering others and advancing the field of mental health counseling.
