Karla Paez Torres, M.S., is a licensed psychologist from Puerto Rico with approximately 5–6 months of professional practice. Born and raised on the island, she currently works at two centers, with her primary role based at the CAMI Center in Las Piedras, Puerto Rico, where she serves as a school psychologist. In this capacity, she provides specialized support for children in special education, focusing on conditions such as ADHD, autism, and conduct disorders, while helping children and adolescents develop emotional, behavioral, and academic coping skills within the school system.

She earned her Master’s degree from Ponce Health Sciences University in December 2024, along with additional graduate-level training related to autism studies. She completed her Bachelor’s degree at the University of Puerto Rico in 2019. Her academic and professional development includes a published article in 2021 in Behavioral Sciences Magazine, affiliated with Carlos Albizu University. She also collaborates with the Miss Puerto Rico organization, delivering workshops centered on self-esteem and empowerment. While not currently affiliated with major professional associations such as the APA, she has expressed interest in joining in the future.

Her professional philosophy is rooted in commitment, service to vulnerable populations, and excellence in care, with a strong passion for helping children build lifelong tools for learning and well-being. She envisions opening her own holistic care center that integrates music, dance, art therapy, and wellness-based approaches. Alongside her clinical work, she has been active in modeling for four years and has participated in pageantry, earning distinctions such as first runner-up and a Best Talent award. She is also preparing to represent Puerto Rico in an international modeling competition in the Dominican Republic, and enjoys interests in singing, acting, the arts, exercise, and language learning, including Korean and Japanese.

What I enjoy most about practicing medicine is the sense of excitement in my work and the ability to create an environment where children feel comfortable being themselves.
