What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
What I enjoy most about practicing medicine is the constant connection with patients during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. There is something deeply meaningful about being able to step in when someone needs help and witnessing the immediate impact of care. I often see the change in a patient’s expression and the sense of relief and gratitude after we are able to intervene using our knowledge and skills. In the emergency department, I encounter a wide variety of cases from multiple areas of medicine within a single day, which keeps the work both challenging and engaging. Although the environment can be stressful, it is also incredibly rewarding to see immediate improvements, help patients with their primary concerns, and know that both clinical expertise and empathy made a difference in real time.
