Heidi Hagood, RN

Heidi Hagood is an experienced Registered Nurse with 27 years in healthcare, including over two decades specializing in home health and hospice care. She currently serves as RN Administrator at Breeze Hospice of Missouri, where she provides clinical leadership while continuing her commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care. Based in Sullivan, Missouri, Heidi has spent the past nine years serving her local community, supporting patients and families through some of life’s most critical and sensitive moments.

Heidi began her nursing career after earning her associate degree from Northeast Texas Community College. She initially worked in medical-surgical nursing, where she served as a charge nurse for a 36-bed unit at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview, Texas. Over time, she transitioned into home health and hospice, where she found her true calling. Her clinical experience spans a wide range of patient populations—from pediatrics to end-of-life care—and includes specialized skills in IV therapy and wound care.

Now in a leadership role, Heidi is passionate about guiding both patients and care teams with empathy, integrity, and respect. Her philosophy centers on meeting patients where they are and ensuring dignity, comfort, and continuity of care throughout their journey. She believes that both birth and end-of-life experiences deserve meaningful connection and trust between caregiver and patient. Driven by a desire to make a difference, Heidi continues to grow as a leader while remaining deeply committed to improving the quality of care within her community and beyond.

Q

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

I would say patient care - you take a crisis situation, no matter what is going on, and make it better for those patients. You're either seeing someone healing, even in death, there's a different kind of healing. It's just rewarding. I think two times in life, you deserve to have the same person taking care of you, and I think that's when you're having a child and when you're dying. I think you should be allowed the same person. I think that's how you build comfort with somebody else, and how you build rapport. So I think giving that to someone and that rapport and that trust is probably how you do it.
