Dr. Evan Leonard, DMS, MS, PA-C, is a distinguished Medical Scientist, Clinical Anatomist, and Physician Associate with extensive experience spanning clinical medicine, academic leadership, medical education, and research. With a career grounded in both hands-on patient care and advanced medical instruction, he has built a reputation for excellence in emergency medicine, anatomy, physiology, and physician assistant education. His multidisciplinary background uniquely positions him at the intersection of clinical practice, academic innovation, and medical research.

He currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Physician Assistant Program at Barry University and as a Visiting Professor of Anatomy & Physiology and Human Biology at Chamberlain University. In these roles, Dr. Leonard teaches graduate-level courses including anatomy, neuroanatomy, pathophysiology, physical diagnosis, and surgery. He also serves in key academic leadership capacities, including course director for Gross Anatomy and Surgical Principles, and participates in admissions, curriculum development, student evaluation, and program outcome committees. His teaching philosophy emphasizes experiential learning, clinical integration, and mentorship of future healthcare professionals.

Dr. Leonard’s extensive clinical background includes emergency medicine, internal medicine, surgical care, and urgent care practice across leading healthcare institutions such as the University of Florida Jacksonville Physicians and Amelia Urgent Care. His clinical expertise encompasses advanced procedures including trauma care, central line placement, intubation, lumbar punctures, and critical care management. He also served in clinical research roles, contributing to Phase III trials and advancing medical knowledge in critical care, neurological, and cardiovascular medicine.

In addition to his clinical and academic work, Dr. Leonard is a medical entrepreneur and consultant. He is Co-Owner of Excellent Realty, where he oversees strategic investment, asset performance, and governance, and he has also served as CEO and Medical Science Director of Health Education Totalis, providing medical writing, consulting, AI training, and healthcare education services. His contributions extend into medical AI development, peer-reviewed publications, editorial work, and authorship, reflecting his commitment to advancing both medicine and technology.

Dr. Leonard’s academic achievements include a Doctor of Medical Science (DMS) from Lincoln Memorial University, a Master of Medical Science from Nova Southeastern University, a Master of Science in Anatomy and Cellular Biology from Barry University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Human Biology from the University of Miami. He is NCCPA-certified and holds multiple state licenses, along with extensive certifications in critical care, airway management, and advanced clinical training. Recognized with multiple honors and military service awards, he is also an active member of several professional organizations and continues to contribute globally through medical missions, research publications, and academic symposiums.

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

I find the greatest fulfillment in practicing medicine through both patient care and medical education. I enjoy helping patients navigate complex health challenges while also mentoring the next generation of healthcare providers. Being able to combine clinical practice with teaching allows me to make a meaningful impact on individuals and the broader medical community.
