Enrique Torres, M.A., LPC, LMFT, NCC, is a seasoned mental health professional with decades of experience in counseling, psychotherapy, and clinical practice. He has been practicing since 1984, beginning his career in the correctional system before transitioning into school-based and private practice settings, where he has continued to serve individuals, couples, and families through complex emotional and behavioral challenges. He earned his Master of Arts in Applied Psychology from the University of Houston–Victoria in 1984. Early in his career, he worked within the prison system for approximately two years, followed by his role in the Victoria Independent School District, where he directed substance abuse programming for five years. These early professional experiences helped shape his long-standing focus on behavioral health and addiction recovery. In 1992, Enrique became a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), followed by his licensure as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in 1993. He also earned his certification as a National Certified Counselor (NCC) in 1994. He co-founded New Beginnings Clinic in Victoria, Texas, where he continues to provide therapeutic services grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and solution-focused approaches. His clinical expertise spans substance abuse treatment, trauma recovery, child and adolescent behavioral issues, parenting challenges, and marital and family therapy. He has completed extensive continuing education in victimology and trauma-focused care and has worked with individuals affected by major affective disorders and complex life circumstances. Throughout his career, he has remained committed to helping clients achieve meaningful behavioral change and emotional stability. In addition to his clinical practice, Enrique is an active educator and speaker, having presented at state conferences on criminal behavior and mental health issues and victim-perpetrator dynamics. He has also delivered community-focused presentations through organizations such as Hope of South Texas and the Women’s Crisis Center. He attributes his success to his passion for helping others, continuous professional development, and a lifelong dedication to the field of psychology, which began in his youth and has remained his guiding purpose.
