Donald Berg, MBA, MSF, BSN, RN, is an accomplished healthcare leader and Clinical Manager specializing in cardiovascular critical care and interventional cardiology. Based in Troy, Michigan, he currently serves as the Clinical Manager of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab at Corewell Health Hospital in Dearborn. With a strong combination of clinical expertise and business leadership, he is dedicated to advancing high-quality, efficient, and patient-centered cardiac care in high-acuity hospital settings.
In his current role, Donald oversees the daily operations of the Cath Lab, ensuring safe and efficient delivery of complex cardiac procedures. He is responsible for clinical oversight, staff management, budgeting, and regulatory compliance while leading multidisciplinary teams of nurses and technologists. His expertise includes coordination of interventional and electrophysiology procedures such as stent placement, balloon angioplasty, cardiac ablations, and device implantation, as well as the management of advanced cardiac support systems including IABP and Impella devices.
Prior to his current position, Donald worked as a Cardiac Cath Lab Nurse at Henry Ford Hospital in Rochester, Michigan, where he served in a charge nurse capacity managing daily scheduling, workflow coordination, and patient care delivery for a high-volume procedural unit. He also held a leadership role as Senior Prior Authorization Nurse and Team Lead in Utilization Management at Meridian, where he supervised a large team reviewing hundreds of complex medical authorization cases daily, including specialized procedures such as organ transplants, genetic testing, and LVAD placements.
Donald’s clinical background includes extensive critical care experience at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak and Harper Hospital within the Detroit Medical Center. In these roles, he served as a Charge Nurse in Surgical ICU and Cardiothoracic ICU units, caring for post-operative cardiac, transplant, and trauma patients requiring advanced life support interventions. He was actively involved in staff training, clinical coordination, and multidisciplinary collaboration in Level One Trauma and tertiary care environments, demonstrating strong leadership under pressure.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Detroit Mercy, graduating Cum Laude, followed by dual graduate degrees—a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Science in Finance—from Walsh College of Business and Accounting. Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Michigan and certified in ACLS and BLS, Donald combines clinical excellence with strategic leadership and financial expertise. He is also committed to community service through volunteer nursing at Trinity Health Family Clinic, providing care to underserved populations in Macomb County.
