Diane Bush is a compassionate end-of-life care professional and the founder of Your Final Journey, based in Chehalis, Washington. With more than two decades of experience in hospice and patient support, she has dedicated her career to ensuring dignity, comfort, and peace for individuals and families navigating life’s final chapter. Her work is deeply personal, shaped by the experience of caring for both of her parents during their battles with cancer, which ultimately inspired her transition from the corporate world into healthcare and hospice services.

Beginning her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant through the American Red Cross, Diane spent over 20 years providing hands-on care in nursing homes, home care settings, and as a private caregiver. She later expanded her expertise by becoming a certified medical aid-in-dying doula through the American Clinicians Academy on Medical Aid in Dying, allowing her to guide patients and families through the complexities of end-of-life planning with both clinical knowledge and emotional sensitivity. As a former hospice business owner, she integrates traditional caregiving with holistic modalities, including her work as a Level II Reiki practitioner, ordained minister, and guided meditation facilitator.

In addition to her healthcare background, Diane holds an Associate of Science in Paralegal Studies from Manchester Community College, equipping her to provide legal and administrative support in areas such as advance directives, divorce, and pre-foreclosure matters. This unique combination of clinical, spiritual, and legal expertise allows her to offer comprehensive advocacy and support during one of life’s most challenging transitions. Guided by a philosophy of treating every client as she would her own family, Diane Bush remains committed to helping individuals experience a peaceful, meaningful, and dignified final journey.

Q

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

What I love most about this work is the dignity and choice it gives people at the end of their lives. Somebody could say 'I'm gonna do this,' they get two medical approvals, they pass the psych eval, and they have the medicine mixed up in their hands - but they can still say no, they can change their mind. That's really important to me. I also love that patients can plan their final days exactly how they want - whether it's a small, quaint gathering with family and a few friends, or a huge party on a Saturday where all the family and friends get together with no clue what's going on, but it's the patient's way of a final hoorah with everybody. Then they can just say 'I'm a little tired,' go into a separate room, and that's where they can ingest the medicine on their own terms. My philosophy has always been that when I go into homes, I treat you and your family as I would treat my parents.
