Licensed Vocational Nurse
U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs - Northern California
Orangevale, CA 95662

Delila Jamison is a Licensed Vocational Nurse with over 13 years of nursing experience and more than 30 years in the healthcare field. She began her career as a registered dental assistant during high school, building a strong clinical foundation before earning her LVN from Kaplan College in Stockton. Her early exposure to patient care shaped her commitment to compassion, precision, and lifelong learning.

Throughout her nursing career, Delila has gained valuable experience with Kaiser Permanente, primarily in home health. In this setting, she developed a reputation for delivering compassionate, patient-centered care, demonstrating strong clinical judgment, and working with a high level of autonomy. She is especially passionate about patient education, empowering individuals to better understand their conditions and take an active role in their healing process.

Currently, Delila serves at the VA Mather facility in Northern California, where she works with complex cases and continues to expand her clinical expertise. Her key strengths include wound care, patient education, and building therapeutic relationships that support long-term outcomes. She is actively pursuing her Wound Care Certification (WCC) and credits much of her professional growth to the mentorship of Dawn Davidson, LVN, WCC, along with the leadership and support of her clinical managers, Maricel Smith, Lilia, and Sasha.

Delila is deeply motivated by her desire to serve others and make a meaningful impact. Inspired by her father’s service in Vietnam, she views her work with veterans as a way to give back. She strives to ensure every patient leaves her care feeling confident, supported, and valued. Outside of her profession, Delila treasures time with her family, including her grandson Aiden and her significant other, Karen, who is also pursuing a career in nursing. Grounded in gratitude and purpose, she hopes to leave behind a legacy her family can be proud of.

Q

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

Really, it’s helping my patients understand their conditions, regain their independence and ultimately heal. That’s a HUGE win; makes me feel like I did what I was born to do. Their outcomes reflect my clinical judgement. The autonomy and the never ending learning as a clinician is also a key factor

At the end of the day, I just want to make my family proud and leave something behind my grandson, Aiden, can smile about and say, ‘My grandmauuu was a good nurse.’
