What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
I originally started going to college for accounting because I really enjoyed numbers, but I found that medical coding was a much better fit for me. What I love most about coding is the analytical aspect and how it's like solving a puzzle. I think of it as, okay, this happened, so I reference this in the book, and if that's what happened, then this goes along with this. The big puzzle shapes up into this nice little picture, and it all gets put into this one place. You can read that in these numbers, and I just thought that that was so neat. I'm highly analytical and I love to do puzzles, so instead of accounting, I thought medical coding would be the better course for me to take. I also like that you could do it from home and it's not people-facing. You don't have to deal with the customers, and that just sounded good from where I sat at that point in time.
