Angela T. Wilson, MSPAS, PA-C
Angela T. Wilson is an experienced Physician Assistant with more than two decades of dedication to primary care medicine and patient advocacy. Since beginning her practice in 2002, she has built a career grounded in compassionate, patient-centered care and the development of long-term relationships with individuals and families. For the past 11 years, Angela has served at Henry Ford Hospital’s Shelby Family Practice in Shelby Township, Michigan, where she provides care to patients ranging in age from newborns just two days old to adults up to 96 years old.
Her clinical expertise includes cardiology, endocrinology, diabetes education, and cardiovascular disease management, while also embracing the full scope and diversity of primary care medicine. Angela is known for her ability to integrate complex medical knowledge with a warm and approachable style of care, ensuring patients feel supported and informed throughout their healthcare journey. She places strong emphasis on preventive care and chronic disease management, helping patients achieve better long-term health outcomes.
What distinguishes Angela most is her deeply patient-centered philosophy. She believes healthcare should be a collaborative process, where providers and patients work together to develop individualized care plans that reflect personal goals, lifestyles, and values. Rather than simply directing treatment, she empowers patients through education, teaching them about healthy living, exercise, and disease management so they can take an active role in their own care. She also enjoys mentoring and precepting future healthcare professionals, sharing her experience and guiding the next generation of clinicians.
Angela’s passion for medicine was inspired by a lifelong desire to help others and by strong family values centered on compassion and hard work. As the first in her family to enter the medical field, she chose the Physician Assistant profession for its balance of clinical practice and flexibility while allowing her to make a meaningful impact in patient care. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University in 1994 and completed her Master’s degree at Wayne State University in 2002.
A Fellow of both the American Academy of Physician Associates and the Michigan Association of Physician Assistants, Angela remains committed to lifelong learning and professional development. Looking ahead, she envisions expanding her role into teaching, consulting, and specialized diabetes care, including insulin pump management. Through every stage of her career, she continues to make a lasting impact on patients, colleagues, and the broader healthcare community through her dedication, expertise, and compassion.

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
There are so many things that I love about what I do. Working in primary care, I've got 2-day-old patients that come in just after delivery, and my oldest patient is 96, so the variety and the fact that my day is different every day is what I absolutely love. I love the challenges that the patients bring me to help them better their lives, and the gratification that I get when patients come back and I see them happy with where they're at, whether it be improvements in their labs, or weight loss, or just healthier lifestyles. Being able to help people in ways that they didn't think they would be able to help themselves is just super rewarding. I love the patients, I love hearing their stories, and I love just helping them improve their lifestyles. I didn't think I would want to do primary care when I was in school, but I landed a job in an internal medicine office when I first started, and it really did give me that knowledge of being able to understand the whole patient to better help them. I've stuck with it ever since, and I'm one of the few from my graduating class that have actually stayed in the same specialty. I would definitely do it again if I had the opportunity.
