William Merkley, MD

Dr. William D. Merkel, MD is a distinguished Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and the owner of Plastic Surgery Specialists, PC, providing exceptional care to the Grand Junction community since 1975. He earned his medical degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine and completed his General Surgery Residency at St. Joseph's Hospital in Denver, Colorado, followed by a Plastic Surgery Residency at Brown University Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island. Throughout his career, Dr. Merkel has pursued advanced training in specialized areas including micro-vascular surgery (Burke), body contouring, aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery, laser treatment of varicose veins, facial rejuvenation, laser skin treatments for aging and hair removal, and endocrine system repair using bio-identical hormones.

Dr. Merkel served two years as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy at Portsmouth Naval Hospital, Virginia, in the Plastic Surgery Department, refining his surgical expertise in a demanding clinical environment. Upon completing his service, he established Plastic Surgery Specialists, PC, where he has earned a reputation for excellence and compassionate patient care.
