Wichnite Deriviere, RN, MSN-PH, NP
Wichnite Deriviere is a highly experienced nursing leader, entrepreneur, and healthcare advocate with more than 25 years of experience in the field. She serves as Director of Nursing and Administrator at Deriviere Medical Corporation, where she oversees clinical operations, ensures regulatory compliance, and leads the delivery of quality patient care. A graduate of Fitchburg State University, she later advanced her education with a Master of Public Health from Aspen University and a post-master’s certification in Psychiatric Mental Health from Purdue University Global, equipping her with a well-rounded and forward-thinking approach to modern healthcare.
Wichnite began her career in medical-surgical and telemetry nursing before expanding her expertise into ventilator and tracheostomy care, building a strong clinical foundation that prepared her for the complexities of home health. As the founder of Deriviere Medical Coalition, she provides home healthcare and staffing services across Massachusetts and New Hampshire, with a growing focus on psychiatric and mental health services for adolescents and adults. Her work is driven by firsthand recognition of the critical gaps in mental health care, and she is committed to delivering compassionate, accessible services to those who need them most.
Known for her deep commitment to underserved communities, Wichnite has spent much of her career advocating for patients in areas such as Dorchester, Boston, ensuring access to essential services including emergency care, food assistance, and healthcare coverage. She approaches nursing through her guiding principles—the “five C’s”: caring, compassion, commitment, competence, and confidentiality. In addition to her clinical and leadership roles, she consults with healthcare organizations to improve regulatory compliance and elevate patient care standards. Her long-term vision is to build a strong network of highly trained nurse practitioners throughout New England, expanding access to quality care and transforming outcomes for vulnerable populations.

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
What I enjoy most is that feeling when you save someone's life. I remember one of my first patients with mental status changes. I set a goal to bring her back by 2 AM in the morning. I was pushing all kinds of IVs, mixing potassium chloride with other electrolytes, and I had maybe five electrolytes hanging. At 2:15, she started coming back, and I said 'I got you.' That's the best feeling in the world. You go home singing because you saved a life that day. I also love being able to advocate for people who have no voice, people who can't speak for themselves. When I go to someone's house and see they have no electricity in the cold, or they can't afford their diabetic medicine, or they need food, I don't just ignore it. If you can do something, just do it. I've worked with vulnerable people in underserved communities like Dorchester, and I've seen how much they need someone to fight for them. Whether it's calling an ambulance when EMTs aren't doing their job properly, or enrolling someone in Medicare who worked for over 20 years but had no coverage, or making sure a pharmacy stops overcharging a diabetic patient, I do it because somebody has to. I believe nursing is about the five C's: caring, compassion, commitment, competence, and confidentiality. You can't survive without all five. And I believe in prevention, not just fixing things after they happen. That's what drives me every day.
