Whitley is actively advancing her knowledge in the healthcare field through her certification in Basic Health Education and Medical/Clinical Assistance, where she has gained skills in clinical training, care coordination, and healthcare systems. In addition to her caregiving expertise, she brings a diverse skill set that includes problem solving, CPR, scheduling, and even technical proficiencies such as computer systems and data reporting. What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
What I enjoy most is watching people transform and accept themselves for what they truly are, and watching them gain independence again. When I learned that my visit to someone's home, where they are most vulnerable, can make or break someone's recovery, it changed everything for me. Coming in and showing them that they're worth it, and that they can own whatever it is they're facing, whether it be temporary or permanent, that they can do it - that's what drives me. I've watched several of my patients who were disabled, paralyzed from the waist down, stroke patients, quadriplegics, and even temporarily disabled clients let it get them down. I can see the defeat on their face before I went to the next client, but in the time that I spent with them, I got someone out of bed that was in bed for 7 years, and walked. Watching her grow like that, it just made it all. I'm definitely not in nursing for the money, I'm definitely in it to see the growth and watch monumental life come back.
