Wanda Govan-Jenkins is a Nurse Informaticist at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS/CMS), where she specializes in integrating clinical knowledge with health IT to improve patient care and streamline reporting systems. With extensive experience implementing electronic health records (EHR) and designing standardized reporting tools, Wanda ensures that clinical care and data systems speak the same language, allowing providers to deliver safer, more efficient care while helping organizations meet regulatory and funding standards.

Wanda began her nursing career driven by a lifelong interest in healthcare, earning her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing in 1993. She gained experience as a bedside nurse, travel nurse, and nursing assistant while completing her studies, and later transitioned into informatics and policy work. Over the years, she has implemented EHR systems in hospital settings and moved into federal-level work, bringing a unique combination of clinical expertise and technological insight to her role.

In addition to her federal work, Wanda has served as a faculty member at Phoenix University and continues to teach part-time at Walden University. She holds a Master’s in Informatics, an MBA, a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP, 2011), and a Doctor of Management in Professional Practice (DMP). Her professional journey reflects a commitment to leveraging technology, education, and leadership to advance nursing practice and improve healthcare delivery at both the organizational and policy levels.
