Tyrena Williams, CNA
Tyrena Williams is a dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant with more than 25 years of experience providing compassionate care to elderly patients in long-term care settings. Throughout her career, she has built a reputation for bringing warmth, kindness, and dignity to those she serves. Tyrena spent 12 years at Southridge, where she first established her career and developed deep connections with residents and colleagues. She also worked at Brookdale for four years and is now returning to the organization in Colorado Springs, drawn by its commitment to supporting and valuing its employees.
In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Tyrena served as Assistant Director of Activities for two years while continuing her work as a CNA. In this role, she helped create engaging programs that encouraged residents to stay active, social, and connected. Her ability to balance leadership with hands-on patient care reflects her strong dedication to improving the daily lives of those in long-term care communities.
Tyrena’s passion for caregiving was inspired by her grandmother and her own experiences growing up in foster care, which taught her how meaningful compassion and genuine care can be in someone’s life. Guided by the golden rule her grandmother instilled in her—to treat others the way you would want to be treated—Tyrena strives to bring light and positivity to every patient she encounters. One of the moments she is most proud of was helping a resident overcome severe depression and leave her room for the first time in a long while, a milestone that ended with an emotional hug and a reminder of the powerful impact kindness and patience can have.

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
I get to help people. I love to help people, and I love to bring light in people's lives, and that's why I do what I do. Taking care of the elderly and making them smile is like the best thing in the world to me. I don't ever try to leave anybody wet or anything - that's not what I'm about. I try to build personal relationships with my patients because too many people just go through the motions and forget about their feelings. I think that's very sad because they're missing out on a lot.
