Thomas M. McCauley

Thomas McCauley, LCSW, is a dedicated social worker based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, currently serving students through Stepping Stones Group in partnership with Santa Fe Public Schools. He is assigned to Sweeney and Ramirez Thomas Elementary Schools, where he provides critical social-emotional support and guidance to elementary students, ensuring they thrive both academically and personally.

Thomas focuses on special education students, emphasizing the development of social-emotional skills, fostering friendships, and addressing behavioral challenges through individualized, evidence-based interventions. He prioritizes meticulous documentation, timely evaluations, and close collaboration with both special- and general-education teachers to align interventions with each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals. His approach combines proactive support with responsive strategies to create a safe and nurturing learning environment.

Since beginning his career in August 2023, Thomas has worked one-on-one and in small groups with students while also supporting staff during dysregulation episodes and IEP meetings. He holds both a Bachelor’s (2020) and a Master’s (2023) degree from Highlands University, grounding his practice in a strong academic foundation while applying practical, hands-on experience to positively impact students’ social and emotional development.
