Terlen Djie Royal

Terlen Djie Royal, RN, is a dedicated and compassionate nurse whose career reflects both skill and a deep commitment to patient-centered care. Over the past two years in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU), she has become a key member of her hospital team, performing detailed patient assessments, monitoring vital signs, and coordinating closely with physicians and multidisciplinary staff to ensure optimal outcomes. Her nursing journey began as a nurse extern, providing early exposure to the fast-paced demands of acute care and laying the foundation for her ongoing professional growth.

Royal is currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree, expected to be completed by December, and maintains certifications in Allied Health, Nursing, and Advanced CPR. In addition to her primary role, she serves as a HealthTrust agency nurse, providing support to HCA hospitals during staffing needs. This role has broadened her experience and allowed her to adapt seamlessly across various clinical settings.

Inspired by her father’s resilience and work ethic, Royal originally considered specializing in neuro-intensive care but found a fulfilling path in the PCU. She continually expands her knowledge through advanced clinical training, including education on nitroglycerin drips, and is cultivating an interest in healthcare informatics. She plans to pursue a master’s degree in the field to leverage technology in improving patient care and outcomes.

For Royal, nursing is as much about empathy as it is about clinical proficiency. She finds fulfillment in the gratitude expressed by patients, seeing each interaction as an opportunity to combine compassion with expertise. Her independence and versatility in practice have allowed her to carve a meaningful career while continuously embracing new challenges and learning opportunities
