Taya Merrell, BSW

Taya Merrell is a licensed social service worker based in Orem, Utah, currently serving as a case manager at Wasatch Behavioral Health within intensive outpatient services for substance use disorder. In this role, she facilitates educational groups and provides one-on-one support to clients, helping them work toward recovery goals while connecting them to essential community resources. Her work is rooted in consistency, accountability, and compassionate engagement.

Taya’s professional focus centers on substance use disorder treatment across both residential and outpatient settings, as well as youth crisis intervention and in-home child and family services. She takes a holistic, practical approach to care—addressing immediate needs such as housing, employment, and resume support alongside emotional guidance and the development of healthy coping skills. Taya believes strongly in offering love, acceptance, and steady support so individuals can recognize the help available to them and build sustainable paths toward recovery.

She entered the field after earning her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of Wyoming in 2022 and has since gained experience in residential substance use treatment centers, youth crisis residential programs, and casework with the Division of Child and Family Services. As part of her commitment to client-centered support, Taya has participated in local recovery groups and attended open NA and AA meetings to better understand and support the recovery process from the client perspective.
