Tasha Gaskins, NP
Tasha Gaskins, NP, is a dedicated advanced practice nurse specializing in substance use disorder treatment and community-focused recovery care. She currently practices at WV Wellness and Recovery, where she provides medication-assisted treatment, including Suboxone and Vivitrol therapy, along with counseling-based services and structured recovery programming designed to help patients achieve progressive sobriety milestones. Her clinical philosophy centers on building strong therapeutic relationships, meeting patients where they are in their recovery journeys, and serving as a trusted advocate and cheerleader for individuals within the community she knows and serves personally. She is deeply committed to delivering compassionate, accessible care that supports long-term recovery and improved quality of life for her patients.
Tasha began her nursing career after earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Marshall University in 2013. She initially pursued her passion for emergency medicine, beginning her career as an ER nurse at Holzer ER in Gallipolis, Ohio. She later expanded her clinical expertise by working in critical care ground transport and returned to emergency medicine during the COVID-19 pandemic, recognizing the urgent need for experienced clinicians during that time. While completing her nurse practitioner education at Marshall University, which she completed in 2020, she balanced advanced clinical training with professional and family responsibilities. Following her NP graduation, she gained additional experience working in primary care and hospitalist settings with Pleasant Valley, serving simultaneously as both an RN and nurse practitioner while continuing to broaden her scope of practice.
Throughout her career, Tasha has been driven by a lifelong commitment to serving her local community. Her passion for nursing began at an early age following a childhood accident that inspired her to pursue healthcare after being influenced by her aunt, a nurse she deeply admired. After overcoming her own severe COVID-19 illness, during which she was hospitalized for an extended period, Tasha developed an even stronger appreciation for patient resilience and the impact of compassionate care. Today, she finds her greatest professional fulfillment in substance abuse treatment, where she prescribes medication-assisted therapies, supports structured recovery programs such as the 667 program, and celebrates meaningful moments of progress with her patients. She believes that true success in healthcare is measured not only by clinical outcomes, but by the trust, hope, and dignity restored in each patient’s recovery journey.

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
What I enjoy most is seeing my patients succeed in their recovery. When a patient gives me a hug and there are tears brought to their eyes, and they thank me for being their biggest cheerleader, there's no greater feeling. Their success is beyond anything - I'm at a loss for words. Their success makes me happy. I feel like I've done it all in my career, from ER to critical care, ground transports, hospitalist work, to substance abuse treatment, and I feel like I'm making the greatest difference here at WV Wellness and Recovery.
