Tara Wellman is a New York State and ASCP-certified Histotechnologist with nearly two decades of experience in pathology. Beginning her career in cytology in 2007, she transitioned into histology in 2013, where she has honed her expertise in tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and specialized staining techniques. Tara’s work reflects precision, consistency, and a commitment to supporting accurate medical diagnoses.
Over the years, Tara has contributed to both academic and clinical laboratories, including Upstate Medical University and the Laboratory Alliance of Central New York. Her technical skills extend across histochemistry, immunohistochemistry (IHC), and immunofluorescence, enabling her to handle a wide variety of specimens with accuracy and efficiency. She is recognized for her troubleshooting abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and capacity to maintain high-quality laboratory standards.

Wellman’s educational foundation includes a Bachelor of Arts in Health and Wellness from SUNY Oswego and completion of formal histologic technology training at Hartford Community College, where she completed clinical rotations at Oneida Healthcare. She maintains active professional memberships in the ASCP and the National Society for Histotechnology, reflecting her dedication to ongoing learning and excellence in the field.
In addition to her clinical work, Tara has shared her knowledge as an instructor in immunofluorescence at SUNY Upstate, teaching specialized techniques used in kidney and skin biopsies. Her teaching role demonstrates her commitment to mentoring future laboratory professionals and advancing best practices in pathology.

Currently working in travel histotechnology roles, Tara brings her expertise to laboratories across multiple locations, gaining exposure to diverse workflows and techniques. She continues to pursue advanced professional certifications, including IHC, and remains committed to supporting accurate diagnoses and improving patient outcomes.
