Talon Waite, MSW

Talon Waite is a dedicated Clinical Social Worker based in Hanford, California, currently serving at Avenal State Prison. With approximately four years of experience in the mental health field, Talon specializes in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Choice Theory, and Life Space Crisis Intervention (LCI). This is in addition to Talon being a certified advocate for Survivors of Domestic Violence. Their approach combines evidence-based therapeutic techniques with compassion and patience, fostering meaningful growth and resilience in the individuals they work with. Prior to joining Avenal State Prison, Talon spent over three years with the nonprofit Aspiranet, supporting high-risk youth as a Behavioral Specialist and completing a clinical internship. Talon also completed an undergraduate internship with Live Again Fresno, which empowers children and families in Fresno’s most vulnerable communities by providing mentorship, education, and holistic support to break cycles of poverty and build brighter futures.. These experiences have shaped Talon’s commitment to mental health advocacy and their holistic approach to counseling, emphasizing both professional skill and personal connection. Outside of their professional life, Talon is deeply committed to foster care and has been a foster parent since 2018, adopting two children. He are also an active member of the 501st Legion, a nonprofit Star Wars costuming organization, participating in charity events and community outreach. In his free time, Talon enjoys reading and playing games, continually seeking ways to learn, grow, and contribute to the community both professionally and personally.
