Sue Warren, RN, MSN

Sue Warren, RN, MSN, is a distinguished healthcare professional with over 31 years of experience, including 15 years specializing in healthcare informatics. Her career reflects a unique combination of clinical expertise, technical knowledge, and leadership, positioning her as a key figure in guiding hospitals and clinics through complex healthcare technology implementations. Beginning her career at the bedside, Warren specialized in orthopedics, precepting nursing students and mentoring new nurses, which laid the foundation for her leadership and patient-centered approach.

Currently, Warren serves as a Lead Healthcare Executive, managing teams of 10 to 15 clinical consultants across diverse healthcare organizations. She oversees comprehensive system implementations, including workflow alignment, current state assessments, hands-on training for super users and end users, integration validation, and 24/7 support during go-live events. Her teams also conduct post-implementation evaluations, such as 60-day health checks, to ensure workflows are properly adopted and patient care standards are maintained. Warren’s leadership ensures that technology serves the needs of both clinicians and patients, improving efficiency and outcomes across care settings.

Warren’s expertise in healthcare informatics began at CHS in Franklin, Tennessee, and has since extended to multiple hospital and clinic sites. She is recognized for her ability to translate clinical requirements into effective system solutions, bridging the gap between patient care and technology. Despite her executive responsibilities, Warren remains closely connected to clinical practice, collaborating with consultants and leveraging her decades of experience to support teams and improve workflows while maintaining a strong focus on patient care.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Warren’s commitment to healthcare extends into her personal life. She finds particular meaning in caring for patients facing challenges related to aging and loss of independence. Her influence is reflected in her family, with her daughter pursuing a career in intensive care nursing and her youngest son entering the field of computer development. In her personal time, she enjoys traveling and spending time by the beach, balancing a demanding career with family, relaxation, and continued engagement in advancing healthcare practices.

Q

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

What I enjoy most about nursing is the profound impact it has had on both my professional and personal life. On the nursing floor, I found great fulfillment in precepting nursing students and mentoring new nurses. Nursing truly is “work from the heart,” and it requires patience, compassion, and empathy—especially when caring for older patients who are adjusting to illness and the loss of independence. I have always approached patient care with a simple philosophy: treat patients as if they were your own family. Spending time with patients allows me to understand their needs on a deeper level, which not only improves care but has also been invaluable in my personal life—helping me care for my parents as they aged and guiding me through the challenges of raising my own children.
