Stefanie Bourassa, DPT, is a highly accomplished physical therapist and sports medicine leader with a career dedicated to advancing evidence-based care for athletes and individuals with orthopedic injuries. As Director of Sports Medicine at Hartford HealthCare, she has spent over a decade developing and implementing innovative treatment methodologies, research initiatives, and clinical programs that prioritize athlete performance, injury prevention, and holistic rehabilitation. Her expertise spans strength and conditioning, racquet sports, and golf-specific biomechanics, reflecting her commitment to delivering gold-standard care across diverse patient populations.

In addition to her clinical work, Stefanie serves as an Adjunct Faculty member at the University of Connecticut, where she mentors the next generation of physical therapy professionals. Her teaching emphasizes practical, research-informed approaches while fostering critical thinking and leadership skills in emerging clinicians. She has also contributed to education through Allied Health Education, providing clinically relevant guidance to PTs, OTs, ATCs, and exercise specialists on orthopedic and sports medicine best practices.

Recently appointed to the Board of Directors at the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), Stefanie continues to champion leadership, advocacy, and professional development within the field. Her longstanding dedication to community service includes over 25 years as a coach with the Special Olympics of Connecticut, supporting athletes with disabilities in soccer, basketball, softball, and unified bowling. Through her clinical, academic, and volunteer work, Stefanie combines expertise, mentorship, and passion to elevate both patient care and the physical therapy profession.
