Dr. Srinivasa Rao Kothapali is a highly accomplished, board-certified interventional cardiologist with more than 30 years of experience dedicated to advancing cardiovascular care. He earned his medical degree from Andhra University in India, where he distinguished himself as the top student throughout medical school and was awarded seven gold medals for academic excellence. Driven by a deep commitment to serving others—particularly the sick and underserved—Dr. Kothapali pursued advanced medical training in the United States, completing his residency at Cook County Hospital in Chicago in 1989.

He went on to complete a cardiology fellowship at Case Western University in Cleveland in 1991, followed by an advanced fellowship in interventional cardiology at Albert Einstein Medical Center in 1992. As a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, Dr. Kothapali has developed extensive expertise in diagnosing and treating complex cardiovascular conditions. His decades of experience, combined with his strong academic foundation, have established him as a trusted and respected leader in his field.

Currently, Dr. Kothapali practices with Cardiology Associates MDPA in Port Arthur, Texas, and maintains hospital affiliations with the Medical Center of Southeast Texas, CHRISTUS St. Elizabeth Hospital, and Baptist Hospital. Known for his compassionate and patient-centered approach, he prioritizes making patients feel comfortable, informed, and confident in their care. What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

I was inspired to become a physician to help the sick and the poor. That fundamental desire to serve those in need has been the driving force throughout my 30 years of practice. Being able to make a difference in the lives of patients who are suffering and providing care to those who need it most is what motivates me every day in my work as an interventional cardiologist.
