Srijana Sharma, MD

Dr. Srijana Sharma, MD – Internal Medicine, began her journey into medicine deeply influenced by her upbringing in Nepal and her family’s health challenges. Growing up in a country with limited healthcare access, she witnessed the struggles her mother faced with rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, as well as her father’s asthma. Encouraged by her parents to pursue medicine or engineering for a better life, she was inspired to become a physician who could provide thoughtful, evidence-based care to underserved populations. After completing her medical education at the Universal College of Medical Sciences in Nepal, Dr. Sharma moved to the United States and completed her internal medicine residency at Northside Hospital Gwinnett. She is now board-certified in internal medicine and practices at Northside Buford Primary Care, serving adult patients 18 and older.

Dr. Sharma’s practice philosophy centers on preventive and holistic care, treating patients as whole individuals rather than simply addressing symptoms with medication. She focuses on the management of chronic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension through lifestyle interventions including diet and exercise. In addition, she addresses mental health concerns like depression and anxiety by listening carefully to her patients, offering behavioral therapy referrals when appropriate, and considering mental and emotional well-being as integral components of overall health. Her goal is to provide personalized, patient-centered care that promotes long-term health and quality of life.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Sharma is an active member of the American Medical Association and the American College of Physicians. She participates in community health education, speaking at events such as breast cancer awareness programs, and advocates for preventive care and health literacy. Outside of medicine, she enjoys traveling, exploring nature, and spending time with her family.
