Sonja Wright, LPN

Sonja Wright is a seasoned Nursing IT Consultant and Licensed Practical Nurse with over three decades of experience spanning clinical care and healthcare technology. Currently serving at Huntsville Hospital, she brings a unique dual perspective shaped by more than 10 years in high-acuity Emergency Department settings and extensive experience across acute and general nursing care. Her frontline background gives her a deep understanding of clinical workflows, patient safety priorities, and the real-world challenges nurses face in fast-paced healthcare environments.

In 2018, Sonja transitioned into a clinical systems and IT-focused role, where she now specializes in Oracle Health (formerly Cerner) systems, device integration, and workflow optimization. She collaborates closely with IT device integration teams, biomedical staff, educators, and nursing leadership to ensure accurate data flow between bedside devices and electronic medical records. Her expertise includes CareAware iBus validation, infusion device integration with BD Alaris and ICU Medical systems, and supporting successful system implementations through go-live and post-go-live phases. Known for her ability to translate complex technical processes into practical, nurse-friendly solutions, she plays a critical role in improving documentation accuracy, staff confidence, and overall patient safety.

Driven by a passion for service and education, Sonja is committed to bridging the gap between clinical care and healthcare technology. She provides end-user training, mentors nursing staff, and supports system adoption with a focus on clarity and usability. With nearly 35 years in nursing and a strong foundation built at Grand Rapids Community College, she continues to seek opportunities as a Nursing IT Consultant or Clinical Systems Trainer where she can leverage her experience to support healthcare organizations in delivering safe, efficient, and patient-centered care.
