Solimar M. Mattei, LMSW-C
Solimar Mattei-Welch is an Independently Licensed Practitioner and Qualified Supervisor with more than 25 years of experience in mental health care. She currently serves as a Senior Social Worker with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Deltona, Florida, where she is an active member of the Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program. In this role, she provides psychotherapy and group facilitation to veterans within Specialty Mental Health, focusing on recovery, resilience, and emotional well-being.
Throughout her career, Solimar has worked in a range of therapeutic settings, including the Federal Bureau of Prisons, where she served as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor at the Federal Correctional Institution in Milan, Michigan. Since 2009, she has also maintained an active private practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Qualified Supervisor, offering mental health treatment, clinical coordination, and professional supervision to other practitioners. Her extensive experience spans individual and group therapy, substance abuse recovery, and trauma-informed care, always emphasizing compassion and empowerment.
A graduate of the University of Michigan with a Master of Social Work in Interpersonal Practice, Solimar also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Puerto Rico–Mayaguez, where she founded GEAR, the first student-led organization focused on drug and alcohol prevention. Fully bilingual in English and Spanish, she takes pride in offering culturally responsive care and creating a safe, inclusive space for clients to heal, grow, and rediscover balance in their lives.
