Simone Larissa Toubet Nana
Dr. Simone Larissa T. Nana brings nearly a decade of experience in healthcare and an emerging presence in healthcare management, representing a new generation of medical leaders dedicated to patient-centered care. She currently serves at a Substance Use disorder clinic, where she has spent the past year and a half guiding patients through critical stages of recovery. In this role, she coordinates care for patient intakes, admissions, collaborating with counselors and nurses, and supports the clinical director to ensure efficient clinic operations and high-quality patient care. Her path into healthcare was inspired by personal experiences caring for her grandparents, instilling a lasting commitment to healing and service. This compassion evolved into a broader passion for improving healthcare systems. Simone holds dual bachelor’s degrees in medicine and surgery from China, as well as a master’s degree in healthcare management from the College of Staten Island. She is certified in key healthcare competencies, including Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR, and is an active member of the American College of Healthcare Executives Association, reflecting her dedication to continuous professional growth and collaboration. Simone’s transition into healthcare management was shaped by her frontline experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021 in China, where she witnessed the complexities of global healthcare operations and the critical importance of effective administrative systems. Today, she applies her expertise to enhance patient outcomes and optimize healthcare delivery. Her focus includes developing post-recovery follow-up programs and leveraging health informatics to reduce relapse rates among patients recovering from substance use disorders. Simone’s work exemplifies a balance of compassion and innovation, bridging clinical care and administrative leadership with vision and purpose.

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
What I enjoy most about practicing medicine is the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives, both individually and systemically. Every patient interaction is a reminder of the trust placed in healthcare professionals and the profound impact that compassionate, evidence-based care can have. I find fulfillment in not only addressing clinical needs but also understanding the human experience behind each diagnosis.
Equally rewarding is applying my medical and management background to improve healthcare delivery, enhancing operational efficiency, care coordination, and quality outcomes. For me, medicine is a balance between science, empathy, and leadership, helping patients heal while continuously advancing how care is delivered.
