Shirley B. Johnson, M.Ed., LBSW, LPC
Shirley Balusek Johnson brings more than three decades of counseling experience to her practice, grounded in faith, family, and a steadfast commitment to helping others build stability in an often-chaotic world. After experiencing her own journey through divorce and remarriage, she devoted herself to studying the keys to a healthy, lasting relationship—knowledge she ultimately couples with her deep roots in Texas ranch life to guide her work. In 2003, she launched Stable Life Counseling Center in South Texas, offering couples counseling, anger management, family therapy, and more.
Throughout her career, Shirley has applied her versatile background—in education, social work, the oil & gas industry, ranching, and military family support—to connect with clients from diverse backgrounds. She developed specialized programs including a state-approved pre-marital course and a court-approved anger management curriculum, and crafted a five-stage “Life Vision” framework covering life phases from single adult through retirement. Her therapeutic approach is flexible and client-centered, drawing on relationship therapy, psycho-educational, strengths-based, and brief cognitive methods.
Shirley’s guiding philosophy is rooted in helping clients focus on what they can change rather than what they cannot, and in enabling growth through faith, insight, and practical tools. Raised on a ranch and once a competitive rodeo rider, she uniquely blends life experience with clinical expertise to help individuals and couples find peace, purpose, and progress. Her mission is to assist adults and couples in creating stable, meaningful lives—even when the external world may feel unstable.
