Shiona Shi Severson, MS, LPC is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Emotion-Focused Therapist dedicated to providing a compassionate, person-centered approach to therapy. With advanced training in Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Somatic and Attachment EMDR, and approaches rooted in attachment theory, she creates a safe space where clients’ challenges are honored and their strengths are empowered. Shiona believes that healing and growth emerge through genuine connection, compassionate understanding, and practical guidance tailored to each individual’s unique story.

Shiona works with individuals, couples, and families, specializing in marital and premarital counseling, life transitions, and ADHD. Using EFT, she helps clients explore how emotions influence thoughts, behaviors, and relationships. When appropriate, she incorporates EMDR therapy to address trauma and attachment-related challenges. Her therapeutic approach is always collaborative, focusing on clients’ goals and progress while providing strategies to help them move forward with confidence.

Shiona earned her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Viterbo University in La Crosse, WI, and her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Human Resources from DeVry University in Chicago, IL. Her education, combined with real-world experience, allows her to meet clients where they are while guiding them toward meaningful change. Shiona’s personal journey in the mental health field also enriches her practice, fostering a deeper understanding and empathy for the challenges her clients face.
