Sheetal Shroff, MD
Dr. Sheetal Shroff is a board-certified neurologist specializing in neuromuscular medicine and electrodiagnostic medicine at Houston Methodist Hospital, where she has practiced since 2014. She earned her medical degree from KIMS Medical School in Bangalore, India, graduating in 2007, and completed a junior residency in neurology in India through 2010. She then moved to the United States to complete her neurology residency at University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB Galveston) from 2010 to 2014. Following residency, she pursued a neuromuscular medicine fellowship at Houston Methodist, where she joined the faculty and has remained ever since, building a distinguished career in clinical care, research, and education.
In her multifaceted leadership role, Dr. Shroff serves as Fellowship Program Director, EMG and Ultrasound Lab Director, and Co-Director of the Myotonic Dystrophy Multidisciplinary Clinic. Her clinical work includes comprehensive neuromuscular evaluations, EMG and nerve conduction studies, and outpatient procedures such as skin biopsies, muscle biopsies, neuromuscular ultrasound, and nerve blocks. She is actively involved in multidisciplinary care, including participation in the ALS clinic, and maintains a robust continuity clinic where she trains fellows and residents. Her three primary research interests are myasthenia gravis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and amyloid polyneuropathy, and she is deeply engaged in clinical trials aimed at improving treatment options for patients with rare and complex neuromuscular diseases.
An active member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Academy of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AANEM), and the Texas Neurological Society, Dr. Shroff contributes extensively to her field through scholarship and professional engagement. She has delivered presentations at AANEM meetings, the Myasthenia Gravis Conference at Houston Methodist, and national amyloid polyneuropathy conferences, and has served on pharmaceutical speaker and advisory boards. With more than 20 peer-reviewed publications—several within the past year alone—Dr. Shroff remains committed to advancing neuromuscular medicine, mentoring the next generation of specialists, and improving outcomes for patients living with rare neurological disorders.

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
What I enjoy most about practicing medicine is knowing that there is so much need for patients with rare diseases - it just keeps me going. Sometimes the feedback from patients, just saying that a treatment or referral made a huge difference in their lives, makes a huge difference to me. Just simple gestures like that, or just letting us know how big of a difference it made in their lives, definitely keeps me motivated and passionate about what I do.
