Serenity Leann Sterkel, MSW
Serenity Leann Sterkel, MSW, is an associate-level therapist based in Elkhorn, Nebraska, specializing in ADHD, autism, and neurodivergent care. Since beginning her counseling career in October 2025, she has worked in a group private practice at Lifespan Counseling, maintaining a caseload of roughly 29 clients ranging in age from 6 to 40. Serenity’s clinical focus is rooted in her dedication to serving the neurodivergent community, offering compassionate, personalized therapy that emphasizes both practical skill-building and emotional support.
Her professional journey includes hands-on experience at Box Butte General Hospital, where she completed her bachelor’s internship and continued as a full-time counselor, as well as a master’s internship at Options in Psychology, where she again focused primarily on ADHD and autism work. Serenity’s approach is informed by her own lived experience with ADHD, combined with a strong Christian faith and a commitment to helping others, which guides her therapeutic philosophy and patient interactions.
Serenity is currently completing her clinical hours toward independent licensure, which she anticipates achieving by Fall 2027. Her long-term goal is to open a private practice dedicated entirely to the neurodivergent population, integrating specialized research and tailored therapeutic strategies to create the most effective care environment for this community. Her work reflects a deep understanding of the challenges faced by neurodivergent individuals, coupled with a passion for improving access, outcomes, and holistic care.

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
I love being able to connect with clients on a personal and meaningful level. Helping neurodivergent individuals, especially those with ADHD or autism, reach their potential and see real progress in their daily lives is incredibly rewarding. I get to provide support not just clinically, but emotionally, which makes my work deeply fulfilling.
