Satia Harper is a dedicated Occupational Therapist at the Pediatric Development Center, where she applies her expertise to help children achieve their full physical and developmental potential. A passionate student of Exercise Science that started at Delaware State University, in Dover, Delaware than transferred to Frostburg State University in Frostburg Maryland , Satia earned her Bachelor’s degree in May 2020. From there she continued on with her passion for helping others to The University of St. Augustine Health and Sciences in Coral Gables Florida to earn her Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy. Her academic foundation, including coursework in anatomy and related health sciences, has strengthened her understanding of human movement, wellness, healthcare systems and general understanding of each rehabilitation population . With a particular interest in pediatric occupational therapy, strength training methodologies, children's mental health, reform programs for children in the juvenile detention systems, and programs for helping educate young parents with infants she is committed to designing engaging, effective strategies that promote active, healthy, productive lifestyles for children and families.

Throughout her academic journey, Satia demonstrated a strong commitment to service and leadership. She volunteered with community initiatives such as Children’s Fitness Day, local Food Bank programs, organizing and distributing meals for after-school programs, and Sabrina's Adaptive beach day which is an adaptive beach day event, where she assisted wheelchair-bound individuals and their families in enjoying a safe and inclusive beach experience. She supported participants in using adaptive beach chairs, monitored their conditions, and helped ensure safe transitions in and out of the ocean. Her involvement in the Delaware HOSA Conference, assisting with event coordination in the nursing sector, highlighted her teamwork, attention to detail, and ability to communicate effectively. These experiences reinforced her dedication to fostering health and wellness among youth while honing valuable skills in organization, collaboration, and critical thinking.

Beyond her professional and academic pursuits, Satia has shown exemplary leadership and character. As Captain of her high school tennis team and a member of both the National Society of High School Scholars & National society for leadership and success, she exemplified integrity, motivation, and a collaborative spirit. Satia continues to pursue opportunities for professional growth in pediatric therapy and exercise science, driven by her compassion for children and her commitment to building healthier, more active communities.

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

l love to be able to help my patients be able to reach there full potential and be able to participate in occupations that are most meaning full to them. No matter how big or small the problem working together as patient and provider to reach there goals as best as we can.
