Sarah J. Ott, NP is a dedicated Family Nurse Practitioner who has been serving patients at the provider level since 2008, following six years of experience as a bedside nurse. Over the course of her career, she has developed extensive expertise in managing complex chronic medical conditions while providing compassionate, patient-centered care. Her foundation in bedside nursing instilled a deep understanding of patient needs, which continues to guide her practice today.

Currently, Sarah serves as the sole provider at a small rural family practice clinic in the DFW area. She delivers comprehensive medical care to patients of all ages, from infants to the elderly, with a focus on chronic disease management. Many of her patients have gone years without regular healthcare, presenting with conditions such as diabetes, kidney failure, heart failure, and hypertension. Sarah’s approach is to meet each patient where they are, offering individualized treatment plans that address both immediate and long-term health concerns.

Sarah takes a holistic approach to healthcare, integrating the mental, physical, and spiritual aspects of wellness. She emphasizes building trust and rapport with her patients, helping them feel truly seen and heard. Her faith-centered approach and natural communication style—what she calls “the gift of gab”—allow patients to open up and engage in their care, fostering stronger outcomes and adherence to treatment plans.

A particular area of passion for Sarah is women’s bone health. She plans to pursue additional certification in women’s health, including perimenopause, menopause, and hormone replacement therapy. Her goal is to provide specialized care that addresses the unique needs of women throughout different stages of life, complementing her broad family practice expertise.

Looking ahead, Sarah remains committed to serving her rural community with the same dedication and personalized attention that has defined her career. Through comprehensive, compassionate, and holistic care, she helps patients achieve optimal health and wellbeing, ensuring that every individual she treats receives the kind of attentive and thoughtful care that embodies the true essence of family medicine.

Q

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

What I enjoy most about practicing medicine is the opportunity to care for the whole person—mentally, physically, and spiritually. I love helping patients navigate their health challenges while uncovering the underlying factors that contribute to their condition. I have a natural ability to connect with people, which allows patients to open up quickly and build trust in a short time. Seeing patients feel truly seen and heard, and helping them work toward their optimal best, is the most rewarding part of my work.
