Sarah Camp, MSN, PMHNP-BC

Sara Camp, PMHNP-BC, is a dedicated Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who provides compassionate, patient-centered care at a counseling center in Denham Springs, Louisiana. As the center’s sole medical provider, she works with patients ages eight and older, offering medication management and comprehensive mental health support. Her clinical focus includes treating anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and conducting adult ADHD evaluations. Known for her approachable and supportive style, Camp enjoys working with patients across all age groups and strives to create a welcoming environment where individuals feel comfortable seeking help.

Camp’s journey into healthcare began early in life while growing up around family members who required medical care, sparking a deep interest in the field. A high school biology teacher, Ms. Walker, further fueled that curiosity by sharing educational emergency response shows that captivated her interest in medicine. She became a registered nurse in 2009 and initially considered a career in pediatric oncology. However, during nursing school she discovered a passion for a different path and began her career in adult critical care, gaining valuable experience caring for patients in high-intensity medical environments.

In 2021, the loss of a family member to mental health struggles profoundly shaped Camp’s professional direction. Motivated to help reduce stigma and improve access to mental health resources, she pursued advanced training and became a nurse practitioner about a year and a half ago. Today, she is passionate about expanding her practice and integrating traditional pharmacology with natural and holistic approaches to care. Through empathy, dedication, and a personal commitment to mental health advocacy, Camp continues working to make meaningful improvements in the lives of the patients and families she serves.
