Q

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

What I enjoy most about practicing medicine, particularly in home health nursing, is the autonomy and independence it provides. I value the responsibility of making clinical decisions on my own and the challenge that comes with managing patient care in the home setting. After struggling in the hospital environment and even considering leaving nursing, I discovered during my undergraduate community health rotation that I was truly drawn to working within the community. When I transitioned into home health over 16 years ago, I found my professional calling. I am especially fulfilled by the opportunity to provide in-depth education to patients and their families, helping them confidently manage their care at home, as well as mentoring and precepting new nurses entering the field.
