Q

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

What I enjoy most is probably the people development. I think there are two things that really drive my passion. The first is seeing someone come in, giving them the tools and successes, having those conversations through the course of their career, and seeing them kind of move on and be promoted, whether internally or externally - that has been a lot of fun. The second thing is when you start a performance improvement project and you see a problem that looks very, very chaotic. Being able to break that problem down into smaller pieces, start to develop process maps and solutions, get buy-in from different people, especially when there's pushback, and then come in and see results - being able to present those to our C-suite and say, here's what we did, here's what the problem was, and here's where we are now. That's a lot of fun, too.
