What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
What I enjoy most about nursing is knowing that I've made a real difference in someone's day, even if they may or may not see everything I do for them. When I hear patients say things like 'are you coming back tomorrow?' or 'when are you back?' or just a simple 'thank you, you really helped a lot,' those are the moments that matter to me. Those are the things that make me feel like, okay, I had a good day. I even proudly talk about those moments with my kids and my boyfriend. It's not about being recognized by everyone - it's about knowing that the person in that bed felt cared for and that I treated them the way I would want someone to treat the person I love most. That's what keeps me going after all these years.
