Ralph B. Sperry Ph.D, ABPP
Dr. Ralph B. Sperry, Ph.D., ABPP, is a distinguished clinical psychologist, healthcare CEO, and global management consultant with more than four decades of leadership in behavioral health. As Dean of the Division of Psychology and Counseling at Rivier University, he oversees the APA-approved PsyD program in Counseling and School Psychology, along with master’s programs in clinical mental health counseling, school psychology, and counseling, and an undergraduate psychology major. His work is dedicated to preparing licensure-ready practitioners who can excel in diverse therapeutic environments and meet the rising demand for behavioral health services across the United States.
Internationally, Dr. Sperry serves as an Expert Speaker and Consultant for the U.S. Department of State, advising governments and institutions in Oman, the UAE, China, Qatar, India, Sweden, and beyond on autism treatment, behavioral health frameworks, and culturally responsive systems of care. He is one of only 51 psychologists board certified by the American Board of Professional Psychology in Organizational and Business Consulting Psychology—an achievement reflecting his unmatched blend of clinical depth, leadership experience, and strategic development expertise. His consulting and research contributions have helped pioneer behavior analysis as a standard of treatment for autism, expand special education services, and improve national approaches to clinician training and mental health access.
Throughout his career, Dr. Sperry has held high-impact executive roles, including CEO of Providence Behavioral Health Hospital, Elmcrest Psychiatric Institute, and Pinion Hills Hospital. He also served as COO of the May Institute and National Autism Center and later as Executive Director of Behavioral Health Services at SolutionHealth, where he led the initiative to establish a new 144-bed behavioral health hospital to dramatically reduce emergency department wait times. A licensed psychologist and marriage and family therapist in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire, he maintains a private psychotherapy practice while continuing to advance education, access, and innovation in behavioral health. Dr. Sperry earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Saybrook University, where he studied under renowned psychologist Rollo May, and he remains committed to elevating the standards of behavioral healthcare and training the next generation of clinicians.
