Raina Crowder, RN

Raina Crowder is a dedicated registered nurse with 36 years of experience providing compassionate, patient-centered care across oncology, hospice, medical-surgical, and critical care settings. Based in Cliffside, she began her nursing career after earning her Associate Degree in Nursing from Gardner-Webb University in 1990. Throughout her career, Raina has remained deeply committed to bedside nursing, building meaningful relationships with patients and families while advocating tirelessly for their needs.

Much of Raina’s career has centered around oncology care, a specialty that has become both a professional passion and a personal mission. She worked in the chemotherapy unit at Rutherford Internal Medicine and later renewed her chemotherapy certification to continue serving cancer patients at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System, where she has administered chemotherapy treatments for the past six years. In addition to her oncology work, she has spent more than a decade in hospice care as a case manager with Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, helping patients and families navigate some of life’s most difficult moments with compassion and dignity.

As a breast cancer survivor herself, Raina brings a unique level of empathy and understanding to the patients she serves. Her own experience with treatment in 2014 strengthened her commitment to advocacy and reinforced her belief that every patient deserves access to quality care, emotional support, and essential resources. Known for going above and beyond to help patients obtain medications, food, clothing, and other necessities, Raina is respected for her determination, compassion, and unwavering dedication to improving the lives of those facing cancer and serious illness.

Q

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

My greatest joy is to see patients who have cancer and are scared and getting treatment. I am a cancer survivor myself, and I can share with them hope. I love to see that bright spark come back when they're down and they think they're out, but then they realize through treatment that they're getting better. Being able to connect with patients on that level, especially as someone who has been through it myself, and watching them regain hope during their cancer journey is what brings me the most fulfillment in nursing.
