Pierpaolo Mangieri, RRT, NPS, ACCS, ECMO Specialist
Pierpaolo Mangieri is a highly experienced Respiratory Therapist based in Vero Beach, Florida, with 28 years of dedicated service across hospital and community-based healthcare settings. Specializing in critical care and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), he brings advanced technical expertise, strong clinical judgment, and a patient-centered approach to his practice. Known for his reliability, adaptability, and teamwork, Pierpaolo has consistently contributed to high-quality care in complex and high-acuity environments.
Currently serving as an ECMO Specialist with Specialty Care, Pierpaolo manages adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients on both VV and VA ECMO configurations using a variety of pumps, including Cardio-help, roller pumps, and Centrimag systems. He develops and implements individualized patient care plans, assists physicians with cannulation and decannulation, monitors vital signs and organ function, and ensures all treatments are delivered safely and effectively. His work involves close collaboration with physicians, nurses, and other team members to optimize patient outcomes and provide comprehensive support during critical interventions.
Prior to his current role, Pierpaolo served as an RRT-NPS-ACCS ECMO Specialist with ECMO Advantage and as a Cardio-Pulmonary Clinical Specialist at Indian River Medical Center and Cleveland Clinic in Vero Beach. In these positions, he provided advanced respiratory care, including blood gas analysis, mechanical ventilation support, anticoagulation management, hemodynamic monitoring, and patient and family education. His expertise in critical care and ECMO, combined with his ability to train and mentor colleagues, has made him a recognized leader within his field.
Pierpaolo earned his Associate of Science in Respiratory Therapy from Indian River State College and has continued to advance his knowledge through certifications and specialized training, including RRT, NPS, ACCS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, ECMO, Hyperbaric Medicine, and Cardiac Cath-Lab monitoring. He also earned a Cardiac Cath Lab Certification of Advanced Monitoring in 2022, demonstrating his commitment to lifelong learning and excellence in patient care.
Throughout his career, Pierpaolo has been recognized for his professionalism, technical skill, and contributions to respiratory therapy practice. He was the first practitioner on Florida’s Treasure Coast to achieve ACCS Board Certification and has received peer recognition for his dedication at Indian River Medical Center. Committed to ongoing professional development, Pierpaolo actively incorporates best practices and process improvements to enhance patient outcomes, mentor colleagues, and advance the field of critical care and ECMO therapy.
