Greentown, IN 46936

Paul Lukowiak is a physical therapist with 25 years of professional experience, the majority of which has been dedicated to home health care serving the geriatric population. He works for a home health agency, traveling to patients’ homes to deliver individualized physical therapy services. His primary focus is helping patients recover following illness or hospitalization and regain their prior level of function in the comfort of their home environment.

Early in his career, Paul spent approximately four to five years working with infants and toddlers, gaining valuable experience across a wide age range of patients. He ultimately devoted most of his practice to adult and geriatric care, where he found a strong alignment with his clinical strengths and professional interests. Over time, he developed a deep appreciation for home health settings, where he is able to provide one-on-one care and meaningful support to patients and their families during recovery.

In addition to his clinical work, Paul has volunteered his time to speak to students within a school system about the field of physical therapy and its career opportunities. Although these presentations were not paid engagements, he values the opportunity to educate and inspire future healthcare professionals. He is especially passionate about serving veterans through his home health practice, a commitment that is personally meaningful as his father is also a veteran. Working with a significant veteran population has become one of the most rewarding aspects of his career, reinforcing his dedication to compassionate, patient-centered care.

Q

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

What I enjoy most is getting to know my patients and their families, and just the interaction with the families. It's not really about the therapy itself from a technical standpoint, but every family has a different situation, and just being able to help them in their time of need in an environment that's a lot more comfortable than a hospital or a nursing facility is very rewarding. It's more of that one-on-one interaction with the family. I get to spend a lot more time individually with them, going from one patient to the next, and that personal connection is what makes the work so fulfilling.
