Ottilia Sibanda, PMHNP-BC, is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with 17 years of nursing experience since beginning her career in 2009. She currently provides psychiatric care at Winslow Indian Healthcare Center in Winslow, Arizona, and is also the founder of Living Hope Behavioral and Mental Health Care, a telehealth-based private practice dedicated to delivering accessible and individualized mental health services across Arizona.

Her clinical expertise is in psychiatric and behavioral health care, with a focus on the assessment and treatment of conditions such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, and a wide range of other mental health disorders. Ottilia integrates evidence-based psychiatric practice with a holistic, patient-centered approach, ensuring that each treatment plan is tailored to the unique needs, circumstances, and goals of the individual.

Ottilia is certified in basic EMDR therapy for PTSD and incorporates trauma-informed principles into her practice when clinically appropriate. Rather than immediately relying on medication alone, she prioritizes a comprehensive understanding of each patient’s emotional history, stressors, and life experiences before developing a treatment plan. Her approach emphasizes careful evaluation, meaningful dialogue, and identifying root causes of emotional distress.

She is deeply committed to delivering compassionate and respectful care, guided by the belief that every patient deserves to be treated with dignity and understanding. Ottilia takes time to build therapeutic relationships with her patients, focusing on identifying underlying emotional triggers and supporting long-term mental wellness through personalized and holistic interventions.

Ottilia completed her Associate Degree in Nursing at Arkansas State University, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Maryville University and completed her Post-Graduate Certificate as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at East Tennessee State University in 2020. In addition to her clinical work, she is actively involved in community and philanthropic initiatives, including support for the Red Cross, prison ministry programs, hunger relief efforts, and child protection advocacy, reflecting her ongoing commitment to serving underserved populations.

Q

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

What I enjoy most about my practice is the opportunity to genuinely help people and make a meaningful difference in their lives. I do not view compensation as the primary goal. Instead, I focus on what truly matters to me, which is positively impacting someone’s life and supporting their healing journey. As long as my basic needs are met, I am fulfilled knowing that I am contributing to the well-being of others every day. My approach is centered on providing individualized care, understanding the root causes of my patients’ struggles, and helping them find lasting solutions rather than focusing solely on medication management.
