Obi Anadu, MD
Obi Anadu, MD, is an accomplished physician specializing in global patient safety and pharmacovigilance, with more than 20 years of experience spanning general medical practice, anatomic pathology, and clinical research. He currently serves as Associate Director of Patient Safety in Specialty Oncology Research and Development at AstraZeneca, where he leads global evaluation of patient-reported adverse events, quantifies risks, and ensures clear communication with regulatory authorities, healthcare providers, and patient communities. Dr. Anadu’s work is driven by a commitment to improving patient quality of life and advancing therapeutics safely and effectively.
Dr. Anadu began his clinical career in Nigeria, providing community healthcare in rural settings, before practicing as a concierge physician in an urban private practice. He completed residency training in pathology with a focus on translational medicine and histopathology, then transitioned to clinical trials and pharmacovigilance after relocating to the United States. His experience includes supporting global clinical trial operations for major pharmaceutical companies, including engagements with IQVIA, ProPharma Group, and Novavax, before joining AstraZeneca. He also contributes to education as a former preceptor at Notre Dame University School of Pharmacy.
Dr. Anadu earned his medical degree from the College of Health Sciences, Namdi Azikiwi University in Nigeria, followed by postgraduate training in histopathology at the National Hospital in Nigeria, and completed a master’s degree in Pharmacovigilance and Pharmacoepidemiology at the University of Bordeaux. He is an active member of the American Medical Association and holds certifications in MedDRA and ICH-GCP. Dr. Anadu’s career reflects a blend of clinical expertise, rigorous safety evaluation, and global collaboration, all dedicated to safeguarding patient health while advancing medical innovation.

What I enjoy most about practicing medicine is seeing the outcomes of treatment and witnessing how it can improve patients’ health and quality of life. Being able to make a tangible difference through effective care is deeply rewarding.
