Noor Dirini, MD
Noor Dirini, MD is an anesthesiologist specializing in intensive care and pain medicine, currently practicing at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) in Boston as part of Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians. She serves as both a clinical anesthesiologist and an Instructor in Anesthesia at Harvard Medical School, where she is also pursuing a Master of Science in Medical Education. With a deep commitment to academic medicine, Dr. Dirini blends hands-on clinical expertise with a passion for advancing how physicians are trained, particularly through immersive simulation-based learning.
Dr. Dirini earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Debrecen and completed her medical internship and anesthesiology residency at Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem, where she trained extensively in high-acuity perioperative and critical care settings. During her residency, she coordinated the internship crash course program and became deeply involved in medical education initiatives. After relocating to Boston, she joined BIDMC as an anesthesiologist and educational fellow, contributing to the department’s robust in-situ simulation program. She works closely with residents in high-stakes operating room scenarios, helping design and lead simulation trainings that strengthen crisis management, procedural proficiency, and team-based communication. She also teaches residents regularly and facilitates workshops at professional conferences for physicians.
Looking ahead, Dr. Dirini plans to pursue a fellowship in cardiothoracic anesthesiology, drawn to the specialty’s complex hemodynamics, advanced echocardiography training, and intricate physiologic management. Her long-term vision is to return to Jerusalem and establish an innovative educational program or simulation center, bringing together her international training, academic experience, and passion for mentorship. Through clinical excellence and educational leadership, she is committed to shaping the future of anesthesiology both in the United States and abroad.

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
I'm from a very interesting location, living in Jerusalem. It is a place which is in need of a lot of problems, but I also wanted to be a part of the good things that go on over there. Being a doctor in the region is amazing because of the diversity, the people you get to deal with, the good you get to do off that side of the world. My grandfather was a physician - I've never met him in my life, but I knew he was a doctor, and I've always wanted to be something like him, just to hear stories about him. What drew me to anesthesiology specifically is that it's a very acute type of medicine where it's quick reward. It's also very vital. I would say it's also kind of like the unknown soldier, who nobody knows, doesn't get any of the glory, but does all the good. And I enjoy that. I go to the supermarket and nobody recognizes that I'm a doctor, I'm not harassed by anybody. I work the magic incognito.
