Nicole Martino, LPC
Nicole Martino, MS, is a Patient Access Clinician at Newport Healthcare with more than seven years of experience supporting adolescents and young adults in residential and outpatient mental health settings. Based in Connecticut, Nicole holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with concentrations in behavioral health and disordered eating. She is also a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success, reflecting her commitment to leadership and professional growth. Nicole is a trauma-informed clinician whose work centers on the belief that unprocessed trauma is often at the root of conditions such as anxiety, depression, OCD, and disordered eating. She has extensive EMDR training and integrates evidence-based modalities including DBT, CBT, ACT, and ERP into her clinical practice.
In her current role, Nicole works as a Patient Access Clinician serving as a key point of connection between individuals/families seeking support and the appropriate level of behavioral healthcare. She completes comprehensive clinical assessments to evaluate mental health symptoms, safety concerns, psychosocial needs, and overall functioning in order to determine the most clinically appropriate level of care. Nicole closely works with clients, families, referral sources, and treatment teams to guide each individual through the admission process, helping remove barriers to care while providing education, support, and advocacy every step of the way. Her role includes conducting risk assessments, gathering clinical history, coordinating with insurance providers, and facilitating timely placement into treatment programs such as residential, partial hospitalization, or intensive outpatient services.
In addition, she operates a virtual private practice in the evenings, serving clients from childhood through young adulthood. Nicole began her career in 2018 working in residential and outpatient settings and has continued to expand her clinical expertise through dual roles in treatment programs and private practice. She also serves as a Not a Number Group Facilitator with Love146, delivering prevention education focused on human trafficking and exploitation. Nicole credits her supervisors and the training environment at Newport Healthcare for shaping her clinical development and remains deeply committed to outcomes-driven, compassionate care that supports long-term healing for both clients and families.

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
As a Patient Access Clinician, what I enjoy most is being able to meet people during some of their most vulnerable moments and help bring clarity, hope, and direction to what often feels overwhelming. I value building quick, meaningful connections while completing thorough clinical assessments and helping clients and families understand their options. Knowing that I play a role in guiding someone to the appropriate level of care, and helping remove barriers so they can access treatment is incredibly rewarding. It’s meaningful to support people at the very beginning of their healing journey and to advocate for care that truly fits their needs.
