What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?
What I enjoy most is helping people who struggle with the same things I've dealt with, like anxiety, depression, and ADHD. Growing up, I had to figure myself out through reading and research, and when I discovered what really helped me, I thought, oh my gosh, this really helps. Now I get to share those coping skills with my clients and tell them, hey, do this coping skill, or try this one, or I heard this one worked for this client. Then seeing them actually do it and say, oh my gosh, this really works, I really don't feel stressed, I could really function - that's the best thing. I also love setting them up with the proper resources, connecting them with psychiatrists, community centers, and other services they need. Seeing them get back to normal and live life with all the stuff that they have, whether it's natural or with medication, that's why I do it every single day. I'm always researching new coping skills for myself and for them, learning them myself and then applying them with clients. It's my favorite part. It doesn't feel like work.
