Morgan D. Joseph, MD

Pediatrician
West Atlanta Pediatrics
Snellville, GA 30078

Morgan Joseph, MD, is a board-certified pediatrician currently practicing at West Atlanta Pediatrics in Georgia, where she has been actively building her patient panel since completing residency. She provides comprehensive pediatric care with a strong emphasis on preventive medicine, developmental health, and supporting families through each stage of childhood and adolescence. Dr. Joseph maintains hospital privileges across all campuses of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, including Arthur Blank Hospital, Hughes Spalding, Eggleston, and Scottish Rite, allowing her to provide coordinated inpatient and outpatient care when needed.

Dr. Joseph’s path to medicine began at the University of Georgia, where she graduated in 2015, followed by a master’s degree in medical sciences designed to strengthen her preparation for medical school. She earned her Doctor of Medicine from Mercer University School of Medicine (2017–2021) and completed her pediatric residency at Morehouse School of Medicine. Throughout her training, she developed a strong interest in pediatric mental health, particularly the early identification and treatment of depression in children and adolescents.

Her clinical and academic focus centers on pediatric mental health, with an emphasis on how depression presents differently in adolescent populations compared to traditional expectations. During medical school, she published research in the Medical Association of Georgia Journal examining barriers to identifying and treating pediatric depression in primary care, highlighting the need for improved screening and awareness in underserved communities. In current practice, she continues to see a rising prevalence of pediatric depression—particularly in the post-COVID era and in the context of increasing social media influence on youth development. She is especially passionate about partnering with parents to strengthen family connection, support healthy emotional development, and reduce the overreliance on social media in children’s lives. Dr. Joseph is also developing Building Baby Bond, an initiative focused on providing evidence-based guidance to parents on fostering strong attachment, empathy, and effective communication from early childhood through the adolescent years.

Q

What do you enjoy most about practicing medicine?

I love working with children and families, even though it presents unique challenges in today's world. What drives me is the opportunity to make a difference at the foundational level, before children are impacted by some of the negativity of the world. Children have such little control over their lives and outcomes, so I'm really passionate about building strong foundations for them early on. I also enjoy the challenge of communicating effectively with both parents and children in this day and age, which takes a lot more effort than it did before. It requires understanding how kids communicate today, which is very different from previous generations. Even though I tell people that my patients are my children for now, I genuinely love what I do and the impact I can have on young lives.
