Monica Ray, MD
Dr. Monica Ray is a distinguished ophthalmologist and oculoplastic surgeon, born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, in a family of physicians that includes her mother and three grandparents. Her early exposure to medicine inspired a lifelong dedication to healthcare. Dr. Ray earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry with a minor in Mathematics from the University of Michigan before pursuing her medical degree at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit. During medical school, she served as President of the Sight Savers Organization, providing free vision screenings and eye care at student-run clinics across the Detroit Metro area.
Following medical school, Dr. Ray completed her internship at Beaumont Hospital in Dearborn, Michigan, and her residency in Ophthalmology at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, where she excelled as a leader among her peers. Her dedication and expertise were recognized when she was appointed Chief Resident of Ophthalmology during her final year. Committed to advancing her specialty, she completed a two-year Oculoplastic ASOPRS fellowship and a one-year Cosmetic Surgery AACS fellowship at TOC Eye and Face, further honing her skills in complex reconstructive and cosmetic procedures.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Ray is deeply committed to education and professional development. She works closely with fellows and residents, mentoring the next generation of ophthalmologists, and regularly presents her research and surgical innovations at national and international conferences. Her career reflects a balance of clinical excellence, academic leadership, and community service, driven by a passion for improving patients’ vision, function, and overall quality of life.
